Crosstalk and Noise Characteristics of Non-linear Optical Loop Mirror Demultiplexer and Terahertz Optical Asymmetric Demultiplexer

چکیده
Crosstalk and noise characteristics of non-linear all optical loop mirror (NOLM) demultiplexer and terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) are investigated in this paper. The best demultiplexing conditions are studied in order to minimise the crosstalk and noise, and to achieve reduced power penalty for both all-optical demultiplexing schemes.

Asymmetric optical loop mirror: analysis of an all-optical switch.
We present an analysis of the optical loop mirror in which a nonlinear optical element is asymmetrically placed in the loop. This analysis provides a general framework for the operation of a recently invented ultrafast all-optical switch known as the terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer. We show that a loop with small asymmetry, such as that used in the terahertz optical asymmetric demult...
متن کاملCharacterisation a Novel Dual-control Terahertz Optical Asymmetric Demultiplexer Switch
Application of terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer (TOAD) in ultrafast all-optical switching has received a great deal of interest in the last few years because of its simplicity and low switching energy [1]. However, existing TOAD switches see Fig. 1(a), suffer from asymmetrical switching window (SW) profile that results in high crosstalk, which in turn affects the bit error rate (BER) ...

A model for the terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexer ( ) TOAD is presented, and its performance is assessed. A numerical ( ) model of a semiconductor laser amplifier SLA used as a nonlinear element is also gï en. Results of SLA carrier density, switching window, pulse switching, and a comparison of phase modulation and power gain for a frame rate higher than the recombination are presente...
متن کاملNovel Four-Channel All Optical Demultiplexer Based on Square PhCRR for Using WDM Applications
Ring resonators have always been referred to as a highly flexible structurefor designing optical devices. In this study, we have designed and simulation a fourchannel optical demultiplexer using square photonic crystal ring resonator. The squarelattice constant for this purpose structure is used. The purposed structure has an averagecrosstalk, transmission coefficient, q...
متن کاملCrosstalks Analysis for All Optical Routers in Networks
Growing demands for bandwidth have stimulated the development of high–speed optical shared media networks. All-optical packet based networks offer the potential for high speed and flexible routing. In such systems all optical routers, which overcome the bottleneck of optoelectronic conversion, play an important role. A novel optical router, which uses a terahertz optical asymmetric demultiplexe...
